Originally a part of New Fairfield, Sherman became its own town in 1742, and officially incorporated in 1802.  Sherman is the northernmost town in Fairfield County, borders the northern edge of Candlewood Lake, and is considered to be the fastest growing town per capita in the state.

Despite Sherman's tremendous growth, it maintains its small, rural town feel with a population of just over 4,000 residents.  Sherman offers residents a variety of home options, from antique farmhouses to waterfront properties.
